Blind School

The school for the blind achieves its objectives through its educational programs and extracurricular activities, knowing that the future aspirations are in opening new horizons, and developing a plan of action beyond the walls of the school to benefit the disabled person within his family and the environment starting from the early intervention program through educational programs to the program of community-based rehabilitation.



VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM



Our school offers a comprehensive rehabilitation program which provides functional and vocational training in a variety of disciplines. Each student’s program is individualized and is flexible in duration. This vocational training occurs both in school and on the job.

Upon the successful completion of the training course, assistance is given to find suitable jobs:

  • Switchboard operation
  • Computer training

Follow-up services have shown that when trained, blind people can become capable, efficient and reliable workers without exception.

Music is a very important subject in our program. It offers the blind a world of beauty which can be a source of income and enjoyment throughout their lives.

Students are encouraged to join the choir and the orchestra, where they learn to perform both classical and oriental music.

DEPARTEMENT
OF MULTIPLE DISABILITIES


A special training program for students who suffer from mobility difficulties, mental or intellectual in addition to visual disability.

This program aims to develop individual abilities of students with disabilities in terms of academic, behavioral, and daily life skills development.

EARLY INTERVENTION


The school receives deaf children as soon as their hearing disability is detected; a multidisciplinary team works with the disabled infants and their families according to a special program.

KINDERGARTEN


A process of learning speech and language along with working on the child’s skills of autonomy, sensory-neural, intellectual and social development.

PRIMARY CYCLE


Follows the curriculum established by the ministry of education adapting the programs to suit the linguistic abilities of deaf students.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING
FOR THE DEAF



OBJECTIVES


  • To stimulate the overall concept of independence and the power to communicate and learn job skills.
  • Rehabilitation of the deaf and training them on certain types of work so that they can later find a job in a place fitting their situation, and helping them to strengthen their capacities.

This program is based on the rehabilitation and practical training through courses in several areas, including rattan, bamboo, beautician, painting, and wax art, in workshops inside or outside the school premises.

PAINTING


Deaf students view and interact with the world around them with their eyes, the painting workshop therefore give them a way to express their feelings and master expressional skills by using different kind of materials like watercolor, color pencils, soft pastels, tempera paints, acrylic paint etc…


WAX AND CRAFT


such activities show students how they work with Mother Nature to create original works of art, it involves the creation of objects where the practical considerations of using wax, moulds and paint is an art material that is easily adaptable to a wide variety of art activities that they can express with their hands how they see natural phenomena.

Deaf Blind School

The specialized teaching program for deaf-blind students in Baabda is the first of its kind in Lebanon.
It is based on the following services:

  • Development of tactile sign language and communication
  • Development of the concept of appropriate symbols for each activity
  • The development of educational mental games

Our Workshop

VOCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM


Our school offers a comprehensive rehabilitation program which provides functional and vocational training for a variety of disciplines. Our flexible programs are tailored to meet our students’ needs, for the school or employment level.

Our rehabilitation center offers services to people who are blind, partially sighted, deaf, hard of hearing, and multi disabled children.

Upon the successful completion of the training course, our career placement department will help students find suitable jobs: and career development opportunities.

Follow-up services have shown that when trained, blind or deaf students can become capable, efficient and reliable adults.






  • RATTAN AND BAMBOO

    The workshop in our school is where we teach the blind and deaf students the art of caning, basketry, weaving, and chair repairing.
  • PAINTING

    Deaf students view and interact with the world around them with their eyes. The art of drawing and painting enables them to express their feelings and develop skills by using different kinds of materials like watercolor, pastels, tempera paint, acrylic paint etc…
  • WAX AND CRAFT

    This workshop helps students to accomplish original works of art, involving their hands to reproduce what their eyes can behold in the nature around them. The use of wax, molds and paint is a material that is easily adaptable to a wide variety of art activities.

Boarding School

Students who come from remote villages are taken full board.

The school has offered since its establishing in 1957, global care to help the students compensate for their natural family life.

This care is done with full coordination with their parents in order to ensure a continuous building of their life skills.
